When I first entered the campus of the Church of Reconciliation, I saw the courtyard, with its water feature and surrounding sculpted wilderness, and thought, "Of course this is where I will worship and make music." In the three years I have served as organist, and to this day, I am continually brought closer to the Divine as I spend time there. The Celtic tradition would call it a Thin Place for me, where God and Humanity are able to commune with ease. Through the beauty of this water feature, I have become intently aware of the power of water as a metaphor as we experience it in art, literature, religion, nature, and our own lives: life-giving water, cleansing, nourishing, refreshing, at birth and dissolution, in death and rejuvenation. As I began to look at how other artists have experienced water, I was overwhelmed by the sheer amount of art inspired by our human contact with all kinds of water: the oceans, rivers, lakes, rainfall, steam, the liquid at our own core flowing in our veins, raging, stillness, flowing, droplets, gallons, expanses, currents. From there came the realization that I needed to find a way to share this journey that has been so meaningful. Since the voice I speak with most often is music, I've been working on producing a CD of piano music about water. It is my desire that the finished product will be more than just a collection of performances, although I hope that those who value excellence in music will find that as well. In speaking to you, as you listen and meditate and feel, may your own spiritual journey be enriched - may this collection of music be a conduit for the Divine to speak to you. Your prayers and financial support of this project helps it to reach more people faster. Donations can be made online via www.Paypal.com to roachkl@gmail.com or sent to
